Villa Regina is an old villa that was built around the mid-eighteenth century, on the spectacular Ionian coast, 100 metres from the Porto Selvaggio natural park; the sea is 10 minutes on foot through a pine forest on the cliffs. The villa is 1 km from the centre of Santa Caterina di Nardò (a splendid beach town not yet exploited by mass tourism) and about 2 km from the Lecce- Santa Maria di Leuca motorway, from where you can quickly reach every point of the Salento. It is possible to rent a boat for up to 9 people from the small harbour at Santa Caterina, just one km away, to go to small coves to swim in crystal clear, turquoise water.
The villa is located in an area called “Cenate” which is characterized by lush vegetation and its historic Moresque villas, dating from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. These historic villas are the old summer residences of noble families of the area and most are still used for this purpose today. The scenery is unforgettable, especially the enchanting roads to the seashore. Guided tours of these historic villas are available. Nardò is the closest big town, famous for the Baroque architecture in the old town centre. Galatina is another important town nearby, notable for the enchanting Saint Catherine’s Cathedral which features a noble’s villa with a private patio, a fenced orangerie, a colonnade with a traditional well and a small church with frescoes.
The villa is located in a 30000 square metres of parkland with olive trees, fruit trees, a pine forest and a swimming pool, a tennis court, a soccer field and parking space. A wine cellar with selected local and national wines is also available to our guests.
Nearby, there is:
- a riding stable where horse riding tours in the pine forest and along the cliffs can be arranged
