2 double bedrooms + 1 queen size bedroom + 2, 3 shower rooms
In the proximity of Santa Maria di Leuca, immersed in a century-old olive grove, Villa Maria is a recently built, fascinating property overlooking the Ionian sea. Just arriving there, one gets the feeling of a special place: the scents of the countryside, the sea-view, the beautiful Mediterranean architecture and interiors of the house, all contribute to a sense of quietness and “joie de vivre”. Thanks to the owners’ passion and care in conceiving and realizing this property, the guests will truly experience a wonderful holiday break any time of the year.
The house is surrounded by a vast olive grove of around 6000 sq.mt., enclosed by the typical dry-stone walls, sprinkled here and there with century-old carob trees, fig trees and “fichi d’India”, on a series of terraced levels gently sloping towards the sea. The interiors are spacious both in the living and in the sleeping areas, dominated by the white color, with hints of grey and green.
The house is built on two levels. On the main level there is the living area, divided between a sitting corner with a cozy built-in sofa where one can read or listen to the music (diffused in the whole house and in the outdoor verandah via an amplifying system), and the fully-fitted kitchen (5 stoves, electric oven, dishwasher) provided with large built-in pantries, stone-built island and a 10-12 seat table in white wood with copper inserts; this part of the house also comprises another little sitting room with a double sofa-bed, a shower room and a characteristic inner courtyard, where one can peacefully enjoy a siesta in one of the hammocks.
If the main level flooring is made of grey cement, the upper level’s flooring is in white durmast. Here, one encounters first a shower room and then gets to the sleeping area of the house, composed of one double bedroom, one bedroom with a queen-size bed, and another large double bedroom with en-suite shower room (6-hydrojet shower). All bedrooms have an exit onto the sea-view balcony, from which a staircase leads down directly in the garden.
Outside, on the front of the house and overlooking the sea, there is a nice verandah shaded with the typical reed-mats and equipped with a dining table, built-in sofas with cushions, sun-beds and other garden furniture. For the guests’ delight, there is also an organically-grown vegetable garden and several fruit trees (pomegranate and figs) around, that just wait to be tried. Lastly, an outdoor shower (cold and warm water) to refresh in the summer’s heat, and a barbecue for al fresco dinners with family and friends.
Although the house is well insulated and naturally cool inside even in summer, it is provided with air conditioning in all the three bedrooms and also ceiling fans in the two double bedrooms. Over the winter months, on the other hand, it is kept warm by the fireplace in the living area and the under-floor heating system on the ground floor, whereas the upper floor is heated by design radiators (also in the shower rooms).
The closest spot to have a plunge in the turquoise sea is only 3 minute drive away: the amazing sandy beaches in the locality of Pescoluse or Torre Vado (around 3 km), or the low and flat rocky coast of San Gregorio or Felloniche (around 6 km); a little farther, the grottos around Santa Maria di Leuca (around 8 km), or the beach clubs in Ugento (around 18 km). For those who prefer the high and wild rocky coast, the beautiful extreme tract of the Adriatic sea between Santa Maria di Leuca and Tricase is only 12 km away and winds along in stunning little coves with crystal-clear waters, as the renowned “Ciolo” in Marina di Novaglie.
The weekly price includes: housekeeping service and weekly change of bed&bathroom linen on Saturdays; electricity, gas and water utility charges. The end-of-stay cleaning fee is to be paid aside, € 150,00.
