Casa Lumia is a little self-contained seafront house, overlooking the blue sea of the Adriatic coast south of Castro. Realized out of an ancient “pajara” typical of the area (dry-stone buildings that were used for storage), it has been conceived as a “compact house”, with optimum use of the available space. Hence, even though its dimension is structurally limited, it nonetheless has all comforts for a relaxing summer holiday at a few steps from the sea. Indeed, the property makes use of a direct access to the sea through rocks, shared with the neighboring houses.
You gain access to the house from the lovely sea-view verandah equipped with garden furniture and a 4/5 seat dining table, where you may enjoy your meals with a view in the summer air. The wide sliding glass door makes way inside, in the bright living area with barrel-vaulted ceiling, an open space of 34 square meters. Here there is a dining table placed in line with the outside verandah and so with a view of the sea, a spacious sofa, the fully-equipped kitchen corner, a shower-room, and -on a raised floor that can be screened off with Venetians blinds- a bedroom with a queen-size bed (140 cm), ideal for kids. From the living area, you can then get in the double bedroom with view on the sea and en-suite shower-room. Opposite to the entry door, on the side of the kitchen corner, there is a French door opening on the rear of the house where there is the BBQ. Outside, a few steps down from the verandah lead to the solarium area on wooden floor, equipped with table and chairs, beach umbrella, sunbeds, and outdoor shower. So to ensure the privacy of this part of the property from the neighboring houses, in a way that did not completely obstruct the view of the sea, a special fence has been installed.
FYI: The access to the sea (40 steps) that Casa Lumia shares with the neighboring properties actually consists of the possibility to cross over the rocks to the shore, not of a beaten path. Therefore we recommend caution and advice to use some shoes fit for walking on irregular and disconnected terrain. For those who do not feel confident and comfortable enough, we suggest the sea resort “Fiori di Zagara”, at less than 1 km from the house.
DistancesSea: difficult access on rocks at 50 m; sea resort (“Fiori di Zagara”) at 900 m. At the harbor of the lovely town of Castro (4 km away), boat rental is available so to explore the amazing nearby coast.
