Masseria Matine (458)

Ancient residence Masseria Matine (458) Tiggiano 14letto

layout:  6 double bedrooms + 2 (double sofa-bed), 8 shower rooms

Masseria Matine is located just 6km away from the seaside (in the locality of Marina Serra, with its “natural swimming pool”), on a plain surrounded by leafy olive-tree groves that overlooks the valley extending towards the beautiful village of Alessano; it is today, after a few years of thorough refurbishment supervised carefully by the owner, an evocative and enchanting countryside house with swimming pool where to “make peace with the world” in contact with the authentic Apulia’s landscape and nature. This building, enclosed by about 3 ha. of property land, is characterized by a sequence of picturesque courtyards adjoined to each other and delimited by high drystone walls. In the following order: a wide and fully equipped cloister portico connected to the house; a beautiful and luxuriant citrus orchard; a meditation area; a small garden leading, through stone stairs, to a panoramic relax area with swimming pool. Finally, a series of pergolas, equipped porticos, various little gardens and a plot of land dedicated to the production of pomegranate with 400 trees. A superb fortified tower stands out from the main building against the sky commanding the entire context, joined to the rest of the settlement embracing the aforementioned cloister portico that also serves as way of access to most of the bedrooms.

Main body: entryway, passageway living-room with fireplace leading, on one side, to another living-room with TV and hi-fi giving way, through a separation door, to 2 ample double bedrooms with en-suite shower room. Both double bedrooms also have another independent way of access from the outside portico. Following the other side of the passageway living-room, there is the kitchen/dining area as a single broad space overlooking the above-mentioned cloister portico through a wide glass window. An antique artisanal-work table with 12 seats dominates the dining area which is open to the fully fitted kitchen with several counters, stoves, 2 sinks, 2 electric ovens, dishwasher, one big fridge/freezer and fireplace/barbecue. From here a hallway makes way to a pantry, a guest bathroom, and lastly to a laundry with 2 washing-machines (one of which is also dryer), one extra fridge/freezer, one extra dishwasher and one microwave oven. All rooms in this important part of the masseria are characterized by vaulted ceilings typical of the local architectural tradition.
From the dining room, the glass door leads outside to the cloister portico equipped with a 12-seat table, and featuring a stone barbecue corner and oven where to make pizza and home-made bread. The portico covers most part of the courtyard and serves as access to 2 other double bedrooms with en suite bath/shower-room, and to 2 independent suites. One of these is a small loft with one mezzanine double bedroom and, on the ground-floor, a living/dining room with kitchen corner (2 stoves and small fridge) and one shower room; the other suite is composed of one double bedroom, one shower room  and a small kitchen (2 stoves and small fridge). Just in front of this suite, there is a beautiful covered verandah with star-shaped vaults, furnished with outdoor sofas and armchairs. The courtyard features an impressive drystone wall exhibiting a wonderful waterfall fountain dropping onto rocks and mediterranean plants, and gladdening the spirit of the passers-by with its gentle sound.
Walking further on, an exquisite citrus orchard unfolds enclosed by tall traditional drystone walls, and past that, through various courtyards, finally a vast terraced space with swimming pool overlooks the entire valley. Facing the swimming pool, there is a club house with a wide portico equipped with worktop and stone barbecue, and with garden furniture. Inside, the club house is composed of a living room with sofa, armchairs, fully fitted kitchen corner (dishwasher, fridge and freezer, hobs) and of one bathroom with shower. In addition, a sauna and another small guest bathroom are accessible from the outside, while stone stairs lead up to the club house terrace displaying built-in stone sofas with cushions and a pergola covered with reed mats. Finally, on the back side, there is a lovely clay bocce court surrounded by olive trees. The swimming pool is provided with a hydro-massage corner and one outside shower with hot water; the solarium space is furnished with sunbeds, deckchairs, beach umbrellas and other outdoor furniture.

AMENITIES: 6 double bedrooms; air conditioning and floor heating system in all indoor spaces; 4 kitchens with hobs (2 fully fitted and 2 smaller ones with breakfast sets, small dishes, kettle and toaster); 3 dishwashers; one Nespresso coffee machine; 2 electric ovens; 1 microwave oven; 2 washing-machines; 1 dryer; 1 large-screen TV with satellite Sky and smart card; Wi-Fi; club house with kitchen; swimming pool (12mt*4mt*3mt) with hydro-massage corner; sauna; one outdoor shower with warm water; clay bocce court; covered parking space for 6 cars; 4 adjoined courtyards with gardens; 2 fountains; 400 pomegranate trees; 3 covered porticos with 2 stone barbecues; stone oven for pizza making; meditation paths across the entire property. The whole structure is delimited by 2mt. tall drystone walls.

FYI: In the passageway living room in the main body of the property there is a staircase access to the tower of the Masseria where the owners' suite is located; it is not, however, available to the guests' use and its access is closed by a small glass door.
