Description
Hidden behind an elegant wrought-iron gate in the quiet historic center of Ortelle, La Corte delle Vele is a refined historic residence dating back to the early 1900s, carefully restored, where historic architecture and elegant interiors come together around a private courtyard with a saltwater infinity pool.
Just a short drive from the Adriatic coast and the charming seaside towns of Castro Marina and Santa Cesarea Terme, the property offers an exclusive retreat immersed in the authentic atmosphere of southern Italy.
Guests arrive through a paved forecourt, an open-air entrance space overlooked by the surrounding rooms, which immediately evokes the charm and intimacy of southern Apulia. From this central arrival area, the house unfolds around the villa’s layout, offering a seamless transition from the historic exterior to the elegant interiors.
At the heart of the residence lies a magnificent living area, where vaulted ceilings and natural light create an atmosphere of understated elegance. This open and inviting space comprises a refined living with a traditional fireplace and a dining room, ideal for relaxing or entertaining. The living area flows naturally into a fully equipped contemporary kitchen, thoughtfully designed with modern appliances and direct access to the courtyard, allowing for effortless indoor-outdoor living.
At the back of the property, a private sunlit courtyard serves as the heart of outdoor living. Paved in Pietra di Trani, it features a secluded saltwater infinity pool with hydromassage jets. Soft lighting at dusk transforms the space into a serene retreat where guests can relax in complete privacy after exploring the nearby coastline.
The first suite, located on the left side of the house, is distinguished by a rare square vaulted ceiling adorned with an early twentieth-century pastel fresco by local artist Giuseppe Casciaro. The suite opens onto the forecourt and features a king-size bed, a Lecce stone fireplace, an adjoining living room and an en-suite bathroom which includes chromotherapy lighting. On the opposite side, two additional double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom are linked by a quiet reading area, enhancing privacy and comfort. The second bedroom overlooks the pool and is crowned by a majestic star-shaped vaulted ceiling. It features an king-size bed, an in-room bathtub, and a bathroom with a washbasin crafted from olive wood root and traditional handmade Vietri ceramic tiles decorated with star and cross motifs. The third bedroom opens directly onto the forecourt and is characterized by a warm exposed barrel vault in carparo stone. Its bathroom combines white microcement with lilac Vietri tiles and a chromotherapy shower, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
Beyond the villa, the surrounding area offers endless opportunities to explore the Adriatich coast of Salento. Within a short drive, guests can reach the dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters of Castro Marina, or the elegant seaside town of Santa Cesarea Terme, famous for its thermal heritage and Moorish-style architecture.
