An authentic example of an aristocratic residence of the XVI century, entirely renovated and provided with a beautiful inner courtyard with pool, Palazzo Remasi is located in the ancient and charming little town of Alessano, not far from Santa Maria di Leuca and from the picturesque seaside village of Marina di Novaglie. It is characterized by a very careful décor where valuable old pieces of furniture, beautiful paintings, Persian carpets and rare objects come together with all modern comforts, in a sober and elegant style.
The palace is subdivided into three self-contained units, independent also in their access, spread between the ground and the upper floor, offering a total of 14 sleeps. It is thus an ideal property to accommodate groups of people wanting to benefit both of pleasurable spaces for gathering and of other such spaces for privacy.
From the typical Baroque main door, overlooking a tiny street of the historic centre, you enter in an arcade cloister where, on the right, there is the stone staircase leading to the apartment on the upper floor, whereas going to the left, a walkway leads to the apartments on the ground floor and lastly to the fascinating courtyard with pool.
On the upper floor there is the largest apartment, offering 8 sleeps, which benefits of a lovely equipped terrace overlooking the courtyard with pool. You can access this unit via two different doors: the first door lets you in a spacious living room through which you gain access to a double bedroom with en-suite shower room; whereas through the second door you enter in an elegant entrance hall (which communicates with the aforementioned living room), which is characterized by the presence of an original votive corner featuring a beautiful ancient painting on the ceiling. From this room you gain way to another living room from which, on the left, you can access the dining room, and from there find your way to a double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Going back to the living room, you can enter, on one side, another double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a French door opening onto the terrace; while on the other side, you will find the kitchen. From the kitchen you can reach a third shower room and the staircase leading to a mezzanine converted in a twin/double bedroom, where an additional single bed can be added upon request and at an extra cost. Going back to the kitchen, you can also get outside on the terrace, which is provided with a 6-seat dining table and a garden sofa, making it a lovely place where you can enjoy a tasty Italian aperitivo after a day at the beach.
Going back down in the entrance cloister on the ground floor, and taking the walkway cutting across the palace, you will reach the second apartment, which also has an independent entrance from the street. From the access room where there is an adjoined shower room, you move on in the spacious living space divided in two different areas by a beautiful medieval arch: the first is the dining and living area, while the next one hosts the kitchen corner and two single beds (such area is where you would find yourself should you access the apartment from the entrance on the street). From here you can then attain a double bedroom.
Returning outside and moving on through the walkway, you then reach the third apartment, the closest to the courtyard with pool, onto which the bedrooms overlook. This apartment also has an independent entrance from the street. If you access it from the walkway, you get directly in a first small double bedroom and then in a passageway where, on the right, you find the shower room, while straight ahead you get into the second bedroom, which is larger than the previous one and features two ancient built-in wardrobes. From this room you then enter the living and dining room (which is the entrance room if you access the apartment from the street). Given the way they are disposed, each room works as a passage space for the next.
Last but not least, the ground floor walkway ends up in the beautiful courtyard with pool. Although this area is structurally encircled by the surrounding buildings, the atmosphere here is so peaceful and private, that you will definitely love starting your day here with a nice breakfast and a rejuvenating plunge in the pool!
We like it because- It is placed in a lovely little town of the Salento which is mostly unknown to mass tourism, where narrow streets and picturesque alleys intertwine to then come out to little “piazze” (i.e. squares) contoured by ancient palazzi and buildings, where you can truly experience the charming and quiet atmosphere of southern Puglia.
- Restaurants, cafés, and any other shop are at walking distance from the palazzo.
- It is ideally located relative to both coasts of the Salento. It will take you only a ten-minute drive if you wish to explore the rocky coast of the Adriatic Sea, while about twenty minutes if you would like to spend a day on the beach on the Ionic coast.
- Thanks to its structure and to the way the space is designed in each apartment, this property is very comfortable and functional to accommodate up to three groups of people or families with kids.
Please knowPalazzo Remasi is located in the historic centre of Alessano, which is a limited traffic area. Nevertheless it is quickly attainable by foot since you can easily park for free in the surrounding streets.
